Livingston: Sinclair wants more goals in his spectrum

DAVID SINCLAIR was delighted to pick up his first league goal of the season for Livingston in Saturday's league opener against Queen of the South - and he wants to add more goals to his game as the Lions resume First Division action at Morton tomorrow.

After a disappointing first half that saw the visitors lead 2-0 last weekend, Sinclair and then Iain Russell grabbed the goals for Livi in the second 45 to share the points, and the midfielder admits the players knew they weren't on top form as Gus MacPherson's team threatened to put the game out of sight.

He said: "We kind of shot ourselves in the foot in the first half last Saturday. We didn't pass the ball and Queen of the South got on top of us, but second half we came out and looked to get the ball down and pass it, and probably in the end up we could've won the game."

Sinclair maintains manager Gary Bollan didn't need to direct any fire at his players during the break - because they knew themselves they weren't playing well.

"(Gary] didn't really say too much to be honest with you," said Sinclair. "We knew amongst ourselves that we could play much better than we had done. We had a wee discussion amongst ourselves, and a bit of a debate and came out and played well in the second half."

Sinclair's goal was the second he's managed to notch up so far this campaign, with the other coming in the 5-0 demolition of Airdrie in the Ramsdens Cup first round. The midfielder was delighted to eventually get the better of ex-Livi team-mate Roddy McKenzie, who had achieved two fine saves already from Sinclair either side of half-time.

He said: "Roddy pulled off two good saves before that against me so I was glad to obviously get the goal. It's something I've needed to add to my game as well, so I'm hoping to get a good few amount of goals this season."

Tuesday night's 5-0 thumping of Stirling Albion in the Ramsdens Cup second round reinforced the Lions' momentum, and now they face a tricky match at Greenock Morton's Cappielow on their first league away day of the season tomorrow.

Sinclair said: "Morton will be a hard game as Cappielow's always a tough place to go. They've had a few good results this season so far, and they beat Forfar 5-0 on Tuesday night. However, we're going into it with bags of confidence. We know that on our day we can give any team a game if we get our heads down, and hopefully that's what we do."
