Livingston keep ahead of chasing pack with derby win

RBS East League Division One pacesetters Livingston
extended their unbeaten run to nine games when they took the honours in the West Lothian derby at Linlithgow.

Andy MacMahon and Ross Neil chalked up hat tricks in a 51-3 win that preserves a four point gap over Preston Lodge who kept up the pressure on their rivals for the single automatic promotion spot by securing all five points from a 33-0 win at Duns.

RHC Cougars remain third in the table after withstanding a late fight back from Dunbar to record a 25-18 win at Barnton, while Portobello rallied from four successive defeats to see off North Berwick 30-15.

Dalkeith were toppled from pole position in Division Two after going down 20-13 at Edinburgh Northern and now occupy third spot behind Hawick Harlequins and Hawick Linden – albeit with a game in hand – just ahead of Forrester who were 83-0 winners at home to Ross High. Meanwhile, Trinity Accies posted their second win of the campaign when they saw off Lismore 57-3 at Bangholm.

Elsewhere, with Inverleith out of action, Leith Accies moved to the top of Division Three courtesy of a 31-6 win at home to Moray House. In a match where scrums were uncontested as a result of the visitors being unable to field a front row, Accies skipper Gareth Marshall led the way with two of his side’s four tries, while Kenny Dannfald and David Meadows had one apiece. Queensferry and Penicuik posted wins in the day’s other matches.
