Lister treble lifts Bathgate

JIM LISTER scored a hat-trick as Bathgate came from behind to beat Whitburn 3-1 in the Super League last night.

The Creamery Park side had lost their two previous matches and things looked bleak when Whitburn, who have been struggling with poor form and a loss of key players lately, took a shock lead after only four minutes when Chris Dolan drove home a David Murphy cross.

But Lister levelled matters four minutes later and went on to add another two on the 33rd and 60th minutes.

Second-bottom Whitburn now find themselves in deep trouble after Hill of Beath moved three points ahead of them following their hard-earned draw at Kelty. Both sides have four games remaining.

Elsewhere, in the South Division, newly-crowned champions Broxburn appeared to suffer a title hangover as they went down 3-0 at home to Spartans, a side who came good at the end of the season and look a strong bet for next season.

West Calder suffered a 3-2 defeat at home to Dunbar, while Livingston lost by the same scoreline in their home match with Stoneyburn.
