Lesley Atkins cruises to victory in Mackie Bowl

Lesley Atkins, the 15-year-old who recently won the Scottish Under-18 girls' match-play golf championship, chalked up her biggest victory in open tournament play at Gullane, East Lothian, yesterday.

The Loretto School pupil, who hails from Hawick, won the Mackie Bowl 36-hole SLGA Order of Merit event over her home course with very good rounds of 71 and 79 - the par is 74 - for an eight-under total of 140.

Atkins had four shots to spare at the finish from the Majorca-based Scot, Lauren Mackin. Lauren had rounds of 74 and 70.
