Lennon backing Boruc

ARTUR BORUC has returned to his rightful place as the No.1 keeper at Celtic, according to interim manager Neil Lennon.

The Poland international lost his position to compatriot Lukasz Zaluska after returning to his homeland on a few days' compassionate leave.

Zaluska looked the part in the Active Nation Scottish Cup win at Kilmarnock and the following week's Clydesdale Bank Premier League win over St Johnstone, but conceded four goals against St Mirren last Wednesday in what proved to be Tony Mowbray's swansong as manager.

Lennon was moved up from reserve team coach the following day and he stamped his authority on the team immediately by making five changes for Saturday's 3-1 home win over Kilmarnock.

A Robbie Keane double, taking his tally to 11 goals in 11 games since his arrival on loan from Tottenham in January, and a Scott Brown strike made it a perfect start for the former Hoops captain, despite his team remaining ten points behind leaders Rangers having played two games more.

Boruc was beaten by a fluke Craig Bryson cross late on but Lennon revealed the 30-year-old will remain between the posts.

"When you come off a 4-0 defeat, it can be psychologically damaging for any player but I wanted Artur back in the team. He has been a world-class keeper here."
