Leinster 16 - 6 Munster: Leinster edge out Irish rivals to book home Magners League final clash with Ospreys

LEINSTER will meet the Ospreys in the Magners League grand final in Dublin on 29 May after defeating their Irish provincial rivals Munster with an impressive second-half display in last night's semi-final.

Almost 20,000 fans packed into the RDS to see these sides play out an intriguing contest which was locked at 3-3 at the interval, with Leinster's Jonathan Sexton and Munster's Ronan O'Gara swapping penalties.

O'Gara edged the defending champions into the lead when he dropped a goal early in the second half. Leinster fought back and landed a decisive blow when Sexton's superb exchange of passes set up Rob Kearney for the game's only try.

Sexton landed two further penalties to add six more points and despite late pressure, Munster were unable to find a way back into the contest.

Glasgow have criticised the timing of the decision to hand the Ospreys a four-point penalty for next season's Magners League in the wake of their semi-final defeat against the Welsh region. The Warriors were beaten 20-5 on Friday just a day after their hosts were punished for failing to fulfil their fixture at Ulster on 19 March. The Ospreys were hit with a 100,000 fine and the four-point deduction. If the deduction had been applied to this season's standings the Warriors would have finished in second place and secured home advantage for the semi.

Glasgow chief executive Kenny Baillie said: "The timing of the decision has affected our ability to get to the final. I think home advantage could have been crucial."
