Lee stays in touch as Warren hits form

Stirling's Craig Lee is in the hunt for his first Challenge Tour title after carding a level par 72 in the second round of the Norwegian Open at Hauger Golf Club near Oslo.

The 34-year-old failed to match his sparkling 66 from the first round, but headed into the weekend six under, three shots off the lead held by Sweden's Pelle Edberg and one ahead of fellow Scot Marc Warren, who sparkled with a five-under-par 67.

Lee is currently sixth in the Challenge Tour rankings - thanks largely to a runner-up finish in the Saint-Omer Open in June - and was happy to still be in contention.

"No-one is running away with it so I'm still in with a shout," he said. "I will be having very strong words with my putter tonight. I had four three-putts which isn't good enough. I had a long putt on the second which I just wanted to lag up to the hole but it raced five feet past, and after that I left everything short. I was scared to hit it. I just couldn't get the pace of the greens, it's as simple as that."

Warren, who played the last four seasons on The European Tour before losing his card last year, had an eagle, four birdies and a bogey, and was delighted with the way he has been playing so far.

"I eagled the third so it was nice to be two under after three," he said. "I hit a really good tee shot and then a five iron to about ten feet and holed the putt. Then I birdied the next par five, the fifth, so it was a great start."
