Lee McCulloch won't rule out further Ibrox departures

Lee McCulloch has warned Rangers fans that Kenny Miller might not be the only top player to leave Ibrox this month.

The Turkish club Bursaspor reportedly remain keen to sign Miller, 31, for whom Birmingham City have had a bid of around 600,000 accepted by Rangers, with add-ons taking the fee to 1.1million.

Italian club Fiorentina have also registered their interest in the Scotland striker, who has scored 22 goals this season.

McCulloch has reconciled himself with the regular change of personnel at Ibrox and would not be surprised if bids also came in for midfielder Steven Davis.

Ahead of tonight's Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash with Inverness at Ibrox, the former Wigan midfielder said: "It is something that happens.

"Look at Steven Davis, he has 18 months left on his contract and is arguably the best midfield player in the league, what's to say that he's not to go?

"I just think if Kenny does choose to go we will need to get on with it. It happens to football clubs all over Britain, players coming and going. I don't see why we would be any different.

"Obviously Kenny has to look after himself and his family. He has done brilliantly for the club and if he does go then it's basically all the best to him and thanks, and if he stays then it is brilliant.

"But only Kenny can decide. All I know is that if he does go he will be a miss. And if he does go then hopefully we will get a player in - although obviously I'm not the manager.

"But the players here just want the games to come and to concentrate on them rather than who is coming and going."

Walter Smith insists nothing has changed with regard to the possibility of Miller leaving.

"The situation is the same as last week," the Rangers manager said. "This type of thing happens in the transfer window. We will have to wait and see.

"I don't think that it's greatly upsetting to anybody apart from Kenny Miller in the sense that he, like everybody else, would like to know where his future lies when his contract expires at the end of the season.

"But it's not that great a problem for the rest of the players."

Asked about the speculation that he was lining up a move for Plymouth striker Bradley Wright-Phillips as a possible replacement for Miller, Smith said: "I've said on numerous occasions that if nobody leaves then nobody will be coming in so we haven't bid for anyone."

Smith was more concerned about the possibility of losing three of his regular back four for the visit of Terry Butcher's side, who have caused Rangers regular problems in recent seasons. Madjid Bougherra is suspended while right-back Steven Whittaker is struggling with a badly bruised toe and left-back Sasa Papac has a groin complaint.

"We have a wee struggle defensively," Smith added."We have doubts over Steven Whittaker and Sasa Papac for the game and Madjid Bougherra is suspended.

"Steven could not put his boot on this morning without a lot of discomfort and Sasa Papac has a groin injury. It's not a bad one but obviously we have to show a bit of care to make sure it doesn't get any worse.

"We also have Steven Naismith doubtful.

"So we are a little bit short, especially defensively if the two boys are out.

"Andy Webster is available and Richard Foster is there and we have Lee McCulloch who can move to the back, so we have managed to cover it, but it leaves us short defensively."
