Dean Ivory has understandably been aiming high with his charge this summer after Lancelot Du Lac ran some cracking races in Dubai over the winter, most notably when fourth in a Group Three event.

However, he made no impact at all when tried in the King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot, although a switch back to handicap company just four days later saw him claim a creditable third in the Wokingham.

Beaten just over four lengths by Muhaarar in the July Cup next time he then failed to muster much of a challenge in the Stewards’ Cup at Goodwood, although he was again not beaten far at all in a blanket finish.

This all-weather event certainly does not appear as competitive as any of those heats and while the conditions of the race leave him with a little to find with Chookie Royale, he has come into his own in the autumn in previous seasons. Sky Cape has let down favourite backers the last twice but is worth one last chance in the 32Red On The App Store Handicap.

The Godolphin runner had to use a fair bit of energy early on to get a position last time out and deserved a bit more credit for being beaten just a neck while he wandered around when beaten a head on his previous outing. Sky Cape is more than capable off his current mark and can strike gold again here.

Sanaadh was far too green to do himself justice on his debut at Beverley but should have learnt plenty for the experience ahead of the first division of the EBF 32Red.com EBF Maiden Stakes at Nottingham.

Richard Fahey’s charge was beaten ten lengths on the Westwood but given the winner, Poet’s Prize, has since gone on to land a richly-endowed sales race while a couple of others have also subsequently won, the form looks pretty decent.
