Kyles shock Camanachd favourites Newtonmore

SHINTY: Kyles captain Roddy MacDonald has set his sights on another Camanachd Cup final after the Argyll outfit knocked favourites Newtonmore out the competition.

Newtonmore currently top Shinty's Premier Division and would have been the safe money for progress through Saturday's quarter-final.

However, Kyles hit peak form to dump the Speyside club out of the sport's elite competition, 6-3.

And MacDonald admitted everyone wants this trophy badly after losing last year's showpiece to Fort William in Oban. "Losing the final last year was a hard one to take but I actually think it will help us this time, we would be able to handle the pressure better

"We all played really well on Saturday and it all clicked. We know we will get a tough draw in the semi-final but we are confident." MacDonald struck twice as did Colin MacColl. Thomas Whyte and Dunky Kerr were the other scorers. In the other quarter-final, Inveraray beat Skye 5-1.
