Kingussie braced for 'must-win' derby

SHINTY: Kingussie stalwart Ian Borthwick believes the championship is on the line today despite the season being only three months old.

The champions, who have blooded youngsters this term, face old rivals Newtonmore in the first league derby of the 2010 campaign at the Dell.

Leaders Newtonmore are unbeaten in the title race so far and currently sit five points ahead of Kingussie, who have a game in hand. Kingussie are the only team to have defeated Newtonmore this term, in the MacTavish Cup. And Borthwick reckons Kings will have to do that again if they want blue and red ribbons on the championship for the third year in a row. "I think we have to win because if they beat us, I think that is us out of contention for the league," said Borthwick.
