Kings expecting nothing but trouble at St Mirren

Edinburgh KINGS coach Doug Reilly has predicted that tonight’s Scottish Basketball League game away to St Mirren at the Buddies’ home court at the Lagoon Sports Centre, Paisley “will be tough”.

This will be the first of two crucial clashes for the Capital club who host Saints, the holders, at Portobello High School in the Scottish Cup a week tomorrow.

Not only is Kings’ star centre Simon Flockhart still on honeymoon in Florida – he hopes to be back in time for the Cup – but there is a doubt about Lithuanian Audrius Ciapas, the second biggest player in the team and the obvious stand-in at centre for Flockhart.

“Audrius may have work commitments, plus Kevin Will has played his last game for us as he is off back to Germany to attend university,” explained Reilly.

“However Tony Hogg and Pete Lyons are beginning to contribute as is Steven 
Dickson.”

Hogg is a former member of the successful Kings junior squad who stepped down to play Lothian League for a time but has decided to increase his commitment again while Lyons is 
another former Kings junior who played for East Lothian Peregrines for several seasons and was rumoured to be signing for Boroughmuir Blaze but has now returned to the fold.

St Mirren had an impressive away win over Stirling Knights last Saturday and their young team, which has plenty of height, could be about to have their best season for quite some time.

Latvian Edgars Regis will be a key player for the Kings both in attack, where he can play in most positions including centre, and defence where he most likely will be given the job of marking Saints hot-shot Nic Collins.
