King and McGlynn kiss and make up

MUSSELBURGH manager David McGlynn is on the verge of bringing striker Chris King back to Olive Bank after he asked to leave Super League leaders Linlithgow.

And the pair are ready to put past differences behind them after a fallout led to the player's departure following their promotion to the top flight.

"The deal to bring Chris back to the club should be done today," McGlynn told the Evening News. "He left after we fell out over football matters, the two of us not seeing eye to eye after a game.

"But Chris now wants to be playing his football closer to home again rather than travelling through to Linlithgow and I'm prepared to bite the bullet and get on with things."

King's return is a timely boost for McGlynn after losing Matti Docherty for the rest of the season due to a shoulder injury.

Matti King has also been playing with a niggling groin injury that has meant he has only been able to train once a week.

"Chris can play in different positions so he will give us another dimension," added McGlynn, who has also lured Paul Tansey back to the club after he spent most of the first half of the season on the bench at East Fife.

The little winger played in a friendly against Hearts earlier this week, a game that saw Lee Wallace, David Obua, Craig Thomson and Jason Thomson all turn out against McGlynn's men.

"Paul did very well, especially considering he's not played much this season," said the manager.

"It was great experience for my players to face such a strong Hearts side, even though there was a huge difference in the fitness levels between the two sides.

"We managed to score two goals, which was a feat in itself given that Hearts had the likes of Lee Wallace in their side."

Musselburgh were due to face Stoneyburn away tomorrow in the Scottish Cup but that is unlikely to go ahead and it also seems that a bid to face Linlithgow at Olivebank in the Super League instead will also be foiled by the weather.

"The pitch is brick hard again after the frost on Wednesday night," said McGlynn.
