Kieran Merrilees rallies to land singles title

BADMINTON: Glasgow's Kieran Merrilees fought back from dropping the opening game to defeat Calum Menzies and win his first Yonex Dunfermline Open men's singles at Duloch Leisure Centre yesterday.

The top seed dropped the first game 21-15 in the final but hit back to win the next two 21-15, 21-13 and boost his confidence before an event-filled few weeks.

In the women's singles, Alison Marr, the Bank of Scotland under-23 Champion, justified her top seeding with a 21-12, 21-12 final win over Jaclyn Gilliland.
