Kerrs finish fifth at World Championships

BRITAIN'S John and Sinead Kerr claimed a career-best fifth at the World Figure Skating Championships in Turin late on Friday night.

The siblings, who finished eighth in last month's Winter Olympics in Vancouver, opened with sixth in the Compulsory Dance and followed up with fifth in both the Original and Free Dance disciplines, ending on a total of 189.11.

Gold went to Olympic champions Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir of Canada. Virtue and Moir were in exemplary form all week, controlling the opening disciplines, claiming the world title despite an error in their Free Dance.
