Kempsell in U19 Open bid

Waverley squash player Douglas Kempsell will carry home hopes when he starts the prestigious Scottish Junior Open as top seed in the Under-19 event this weekend at Heriot-Watt University courts.

Kempsell has climbed to No.5 in the European junior squash rankings but faces particularly strong competition from Pakistani and Japanese rivals while others currently competing in the British junior Open in Sheffield will be travelling north.

The overall entry is up on last year with Scotland’s Rosie Allan favourite for a girls under-19 event previously won by Nicole David, the Malaysian who has gone on to become No.1 ranked senior woman.
