Karting: Edinburgh College triumph at Knockhill

EXPERIENCE paid dividends and it was the three oldest competitors – Michael Boyd, Michael Weddell and Ryan Smith – who triumphed at the Scottish final of the British Schools’ Karting Championships at Knockhill.

Representing Edinburgh College, the trio finished with 95 points and just edged
out Madras College (92) and Hutchesons’ Grammar School (91).

But the three teams on the podium had further reason to celebrate as they all qualify for the British National Finals at Whilton Mill in Northamptonshire on 16 June.

Ryan and Michael Weddell also took part in the Scottish
finals last year. “This was our last time to make the national final so it feels really good,” they agreed.

The Madras team comprised George Pexton, Scott Beattie and Zack Bedford, while Hutchesons’ line-up was Jamie Kyle, Jordan MacMahon and 15-year-old Robbie Knight.
