Judo: City judokas turfed out in Turkey

Edinburgh's Euan Burton and Sarah Clark both crashed out in the opening round at the European Judo Championships in Istanbul yesterday.

Burton had been targeting a spot in the 81kg final to improve on his bronze medal from last year but he suffered a shock defeat to Czech Jaromir Musil, world-ranked 69 places below the Scot.

Former European champion Clark was the victim of an unkind draw as she lost her 63kg opener to Israel's world No.9 Yarden Gerbi.
