Jonsson ruled out of trip to Tannadice for Hearts

HEARTS midfielder Eggert Jonsson has incurred a one-match suspension following his booking against Hamilton on Sunday and will miss his club's SPL visit to Dundee United on Sunday, 7 March.

The Iceland internationalist was cautioned by referee Steve Conroy for a late tackle in the final minute of Hearts' 2-0 victory, taking him through the Scottish Football Association's 18-point disciplinary threshold.

He is now ruled out of the trip to Tannadice on Sunday week, the second of three consecutive away fixtures for Hearts.

A spokesperson for the SFA's disciplinary department confirmed: "He was on 17 points prior to Sunday, therefore the booking will take him through the barrier and he incurs a one-match suspension from 7 March."

Hearts will welcome back captain Michael Stewart for this weekend's journey to Aberdeen, where he will be in contention to start alongside fit-again Larry Kingston. Manager Jim Jefferies is also confident that Ian Black and Gary Glen, who both missed the Hamilton match through injury, will be declared fit.

"Gary got hurt on Thursday and couldn't make the game against Hamilton," explained Jefferies.

"He should be okay for the game against Aberdeen, though, so there will be more competition for places which is good.

"Michael's back and we have more players coming off the treatment table so that is encouraging as well.

"We are short in a lot of areas with the personnel we have out at the moment so someone like Larry with the experience he has got is badly needed at this particular time and he should use that time.

"I don't think he's far away from starting a game."
