John Terry horse takes title

A horse owned by footballer John Terry and his wife Toni took top honours in one of the main classes at this year's National Dressage Championships.

Beltoni, with Olympic dressage rider Vicky Thompson-Winfield on board, won the medium open category at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire. Beltoni, watched from the stands by Toni Terry and her parents, triumphed with a score of 70.70 per cent. "It was really nerve-wracking to watch," Terry said. "But we are so pleased he got the win, he's such a fabulous horse."

William Fox-Pitt warmed up for his assault on eventing's world crown later this month by winning the Fidelity Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials. The 41-year-old Olympian continued a rich of vein of form in securing top prize and 8,000 aboard Parklane Hawk.
