John Lloyd under pressure after Rusedski link

GREAT Britain's Davis Cup captain John Lloyd remains under enormous pressure despite a denial from the Lawn Tennis Association that it has already lined up Greg Rusedski as his replacement in wake of the humiliating weekend defeat to Lithuania in Vilnius.

LTA president Roger Draper condemned the fifth successive Davis Cup defeat as "unacceptable" and called for an immediate inquiry into the 3-2 loss which leaves them facing a relegation play-off against Turkey in July to avoid dropping into group III, the lowest tier of the men's event.

LTA player director Steven Martens denied reports Rusedski had been approached. "I think it would also be very disrespectful to a guy like John to do that," he said.
