Jed face pressure at Kings of Sevens

THE EXCITEMENT of the “Kings of the Sevens” series is ramped up a level today when Jed-Forest’s bid to stay ahead of the pack comes under severe pressure in a competitive and unpredictable Langholm draw.

They kick off the 94th Langholm Sevens with a match against Dumfries, and if successful they could come up against any number of potential winners with Watsonians v Selkirk and Hawick v Edinburgh Accies exciting early ties before Jed complete the opening round.

In the top half of the draw Peebles, Melrose, Gala and Kelso might be the familiar names and fancied to lead the chase for the 82-year-old Scott Cup, but Hawick YM come to Langholm on the back of another good XVs season and face a Gala side perhaps needing a breather after securing the Scottish Cup and Border League trophy in the past seven days, while Edinburgh University last year proved themselves to be a team to watch.
