Jamieson's double joy

EDINBURGH University swimmer Michael Jamieson claimed a breaststroke double to help Britain defeat Germany at the "Duel in the Pool" in Swansea.

The Glasgow-born 21-year-old won his favourite event, the 200m, by over three seconds from German Marco Koch in 2mins 13.29secs. He later added the 100m, pipping English team-mate Darren Mew by 0.62secs in 1:02.32.

Heart of Midlothian's Louise Pate was third in the 50m butterfly in 28.00, while Aberdeen's Robbie Renwick also finished third in both the 200m and 400m freestyle behind German world champion and world record-holder Paul Biedermann. Britain won the two-day meeting by 207 points to 109.
