Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares progress at World Tour Finals
The champions of the Australian and US Opens, the pair beat Treat Huey and Max Mirnyi 6-4, 7-5 last night to get their first points on the board in the round robin phase of the ATP World Tour Finals at the O2 Arena in London.
Currently lying 575 ranking points behind Nicolas Mahut and Pierre-Hugues Herbert, Murray’s basic maths worked out that he and Soares just need to keep winning matches and hope the French pair lose at some point this week.

The Scot had two visits to Buckingham Palace last month – the first to receive his OBE and the second to attend a banquet for the president of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos.
“It was such a unique thing to go to,” Murray said. “We had a really nice night, met a lot of nice people. They were all kind of rooting for us to try to finish at No 1. They were kind of on top of what we were doing. Andy, as well. So it was really nice.
“The Queen, I laughed because she said to the Colombian president, when I met him, she’s like, I’ve seen him play tennis before, which I thought was quite funny.”
