Jaffrey takes lead with good finish

SCOTTISH GIRLS strokeplay: Troon Ladies’ Connie Jaffrey shot a two-under-par 71 in the first round of the Scottish under-21 girls’ open amateur stroke-play championship at Blairgowrie.

Jaffrey leads by one from Alyson McKechin (Elderslie), with Gabrielle Macdonald (Craigielaw) and Germany-based Rachael Taylor joint third on level par 73. Jaffrey dropped one shot, at the 12th and birdied the seventh, 16th and 18th in a fine finish.
