Jack excels at Downfield qualifying

GLASGOW exile Billy Jack boosted Scottish numbers in this week's Senior Open championship after coming through the weather-delayed qualifier at Downfield in Dundee yesterday.

Jack, who is based in Atlanta in the US, fired a four-under 69 to win the 18-hole shoot-out by a shot from Graham Gunn, of Canada, and England's John Hoskinson.

Jack was one of five Scots to progress through pre-qualifying with Alastair Webster, David Gilchrist, Fraser Mann and Graham Bell earning their spots in the over-50s major on Monday.
