Bolton Wanderers striker Ivan Klasnic was arrested on suspicion of rape, sources confirmed yesterday.

Klasnic was not at the address when the complaint was made and was arrested some time later, sources said. A police spokesman said: "Police are currently investigating a report of rape in Manchester city centre.

"Shortly before 5am on Monday 25 October 2010, police were called following a report that a 17-year-old had been raped.

"A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape and released on bail pending further inquiries until 1 November 2010."

Police have declined to give any further details about the alleged incident.

Bolton Wanderers had so far not made any comment about the allegation.
