Irvine admits Kyle's form has been unbelievable

Kyles passed the stiffest test of their shinty title credentials on Saturday against champions Newtonmore and Grant Irvine revealed their start defies expectations.

Irvine pounced with 15 minutes left with a sclaff to hand the Tighnabruaich outfit a point at the Eilan in a 1-1 draw. That means the club has now taken five points out of a possible six against Inveraray, Fort William and champions 'More in the last three weeks.

They remain top of the table and Scotland cap Irvine admits few could have predicted such a blistering start to the campaign. "Newtonmore had by far the better first half and we were annoyed at ourselves and said we had to do ourselves justice in the second half.

"In the end we did that and rescued a point and our start has been unbelievable.

"We knew we could mix it with the best but the challenge was to do it consistently.

"That's five points out of six against three of the top teams so things are going well."

While Kyles remain top, Fort William boosted their chances with a 4-3 win over Kingussie, who fought back from 4-0 down to give Fort a fright.
