Inverleith keep hopes of European spot alive

HOCKEY: Inverleith made up some ground in the race for second spot in the Subway national league, and a place in Europe, with a comfortable 4-0 victory over Menzieshill at Peffermill.

John Harris opened the scoring and Chris Grasick provided the second. Stephen Dick made it three from a penalty corner and Richard Docherty rounded off the scoring.

Grange went down 6-2 to Glynhill Kelburne, blown away by four goals from internationalist Michael Christie. Four down at the interval, the Edinburgh side rallied with goals from Colin McIver and Rob Barr from the spot.

Western Wildcats and Greaves Clydesdale served up a six-goal thriller at Auchenhowie as the sides finished sharing the points. Ciaran Crawford`s late penalty corner strike for Clydesdale brought the scores level.

Grange recovered to see off Watsonians 8-2 in the last eight of the Arthur McKay Scottish Cup. Phil Sully, Colin McIver (2), Yan Adams (2), Rob Barr, Cammie Fraser and Martin Kelly were the scorers.
