Inverleith into last four with comfortable win

HOCKEY: Inverleith marched into the semi-finals of the Arthur McKay Scottish Cup yesterday with a 4-0 win over Granite City Wanderers in Aberdeen, thanks to goals by Andrew Dane, John Harris (2) and Lewis Gibson.

In the other ties, Glynhill Kelburne trounced Greaves Clydesdale 9-0 while Western Wildcats put six past Aberdeen Asset Management, Scott McCartney grabbing a hat-trick.

In the Subway national league on Saturday, Inverleith failed from the spot twice and lost 4-2 to Glynhill Kelburne.

Western Wildcats held on to second spot when they sunk Menzieshill 5-1.

In the lower pool, leaders Edinburgh University were held to a 1-1 draw by WebEnergy Hillhead while Watsonians helped their bid to avoid relegation by beating Stepps 4-2.

In the women's relegation group Grange and Edinburgh University beat Western Wildcats and Highland InveRoss respectively.
