Inverleith hope to keep second spot within sight

HOCKEY: Inverleith captain Stephen Dick is hoping his side will be more than simply lambs to the slaughter when they entertain high-flying Glynhill Kelburne at Meadowmill today in the Subway National League.

Dick's charges are striving for that coveted second spot in the league which could bring a European place next season, but they trail Greaves Clydesdale by two points and are a point further adrift of Western Wildcats.

However, Inverleith should certainly progress into the draw for the semi-final of the Arthur McKay Scottish Cup by seeing off Third Division Granite City Wanderers tomorrow.

Western Wildcats should take the points from injury-hit Menzieshill on Tayside, and thereby remain second.

In the women's lower league Grange and Edinburgh University should both collect full points against Western Wildcats and Highland InveRoss respectively. Tomorrow, the students have a cup appointment away to Western Orange Sox while Grange are away to Grove.
