Inter and Real lurk as Gers await draw

RANGERS will be in pot three when the Champions League draw is made in Monaco later today.

The Ibrox side are likely to land a tough task and could even find themselves grouped with European giants Inter Milan and Real Madrid.

Tottenham, who advanced to the group stages after completing a 6-3 aggregate success over Swiss side Young Boys last night, will also be in pot three.

Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal will all be among the top seeds -but could still find themselves facing Real Madrid in the group stage.

Being in the top pot means the trio will avoid the likes of defending champions Inter, Barcelona and beaten finalists Bayern Munich.

UEFA's rules for the draw will see the 32 qualified teams allocated into eight groups of four teams. Each group will contain a top seed, plus one club each from the second, third and fourth pots. No English sides can play each other before the quarter-finals but the trio of top seeds could face Rangers.

Pot one: Inter Milan, Barcelona, Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, AC Milan, Lyon.

Pot two: Werder Bremen, Real Madrid, Roma, Shakhtar Donetsk, Benfica, Valencia, Marseille, Panathinaikos.

Pot three: Tottenham, Rangers, Ajax, Schalke, Basle, Braga, FC Copenhagen, Spartak Moscow.

Pot four: Hapoel Tel Aviv, FC Twente, Rubin Kazan, Auxerre, CFR Cluj, Partizan Belgrade, MSK Zilina, Bursaspor.
