In-form Hannah Miley chasing 11 titles at Tollcross

Hannah Miley, the European and Commonwealth Games Champion in the 400m individual medley, will be chasing a mammoth haul of 11 titles over the next three days at the British Gas Scottish Short-course Championships at Tollcross Leisure Centre in Glasgow.

The 21-year-old enjoyed her best results in 2010, but she knows she has to keep improving as she looks ahead to the big goal of the London 2012 Olympics. "The Europeans and Commonwealths already seem so long ago and I'm now ten weeks into a new session," said Miley, who is coached by her father Patrick at the Garioch Club in Inverurie.

"But 2010 was a great inspirational year. Winning the European Championship was outstanding and a bit of a shock and then to add the Commonwealth title was another bonus."

The world's fastest in the 400m medley last year, Miley will be chasing titles in all four strokes over the weekend and she starts today by going for the hat-trick of the 200m medley, 200m butterfly and 100m breaststroke.

Another Commonwealth Games champion in action is City of Glasgow's Robbie Renwick. He lines up in four freestyle events and starts today with a double of the 50m and 400m.

On Sunday, he will be firm favourite to win his favourite 200m. His two main rivals from recent years - David Carry and the recently-retired Andrew Hunter are both missing.

"The end of the year was hectic after the Games," said Renwick, who won awards for his gold medal in Delhi. "But I now feel an extra responsibility when I'm competing at the Scottish Championships."

Among the younger swimmers, Douglas Scott and sister, Corrie, from East Kilbride, will be out to show early season form. Corrie has just returned from a Scottish training camp in high altitude at Sierra Nevada in Spain.
