In brief: Injured Emilio Izaguirre may miss pre-season

SCOTLAND'S player of the year Emilio Izaguirre could miss Celtic's pre-season after withdrawing from the Honduras squad with a hamstring injury.

The full back had been due to play for his country in the CONCACAF Gold Cup in the United States.

It could mean that Scotland's player of the year will be unavailable to manager Neil Lennon for pre-season training and the club's tour to Australia.

Bougherra tells Rangers he wants to leave Ibrox

Madjid Bougherra has reportedly informed Rangers that he won't be playing for the Ibrox club next season.

It's believed that the Algerian defender explained in a letter to his employers that he has decided to invoke Article 17 of Fifa's regulation for the status and transfer of players - also known as the 'Webster Ruling'.

Andy Webster was the first player to exploit it when he left Hearts in 2006. It allows any player who is 28 or older to buy out the remainder of his contract two years after it was signed.

Free agent Brady opts to join Brechin City

Freed St Mirren midfielder Garry Brady has ensured a season of sibling rivalry after agreeing to join Second Division Brechin City.

The 34-year-old former Spurs and Newcastle United youngster was released by the Buddies after five years in Paisley and his capture represents a significant coup for Brechin manager Jim Weir.

Brady is now set to line up against brother Darren, who plays for City's Angus rivals, Forfar.

Morton extend stays of Bachirou and Fitzharris

Morton manager Allan Moore has secured the services of two members of last season's playing pool by persuading French midfielder Fouad Bachirou to sign a new deal and Celtic winger Sean Fitzharris to convert his loan move to a permanent one.

Bachirou has signed a one-season deal and had Fitzharris despite offers of trials from clubs in Scotland and England to sign a one-year deal with the Greenock club. Moore said: "Fouad will return for pre-season training on 20 June 20. I am delighted with that as our fans really took to him."
