Ice Hockey: Watt a good deal for Caps

EDINBURGH Capitals ice hockey club have secured a second player thanks to their link-up with Heriot-Watt University.

Defenceman Jacques Perreault will have a huge impact on the blue line as he is 6ft 4in and weighs 215lbs. Coach Brad Gratton said: "He is going to fit in nicely with our team."

The second-year professional is a skilled player who can carry the puck and Gratton added: "Jacques can also play special teams. He has a great first pass to start the play up the ice.

"He moves very well for a big guy and has a long reach."

The 25-year-old from Grosse Pointe Farms, a suburb of Detroit, Michigan, played for Fairbanks Ice Dogs in the 2003/4 North American Hockey League season. He then moved on to Northeastern University where he played for three years before joining Quad City Mallards from Moline, Illinois, in 2009. There he played 72 games scoring six goals and setting up 14 others.

Gratton added: "He has very good hockey sense and good vision to make plays. I would like to thank Heriot-Watt University as Jacques will be taking their MBA programme."
