Ice Hockey: Mixed bag for Capitals

EDINBURGH Capitals emerged with one win from their weekend double-header having edged Dundee CCS Stars 3-2 after overtime on Saturday to move them into eighth place in ice hockey’s Elite League before being dumped 8-2 at Murrayfield last night by Belfast Giants in a Challenge Cup, Group A dead rubber.

Sean Menton and Marcis Zembergs claimed Edinburgh’s strikes against Giants.

Rene Jarolin fired the winner for Capitals on Tayside in overtime as Edinburgh claimed their fifth win in 13 league games to move into seventh place in the ten-strong table. Capitals’ other marksmen were Jozef Sladok and Bari McKenzie.
