Ibrox disaster remembered

RANGERS will mark the 40th anniversary of the Ibrox disaster with a memorial service at the ground on 3 January.

Sixty-six Rangers fans died following the Old Firm derby of 2 January 1971, crushed to death on Stairway 13.

John Greig, who captained Rangers that day, said: "The terrible events of 2 January, 1971 will never be forgotten. It was a horrific day for everyone who lost loved ones at the game and they will always be in our thoughts."
