Hot Snap’s Guineas aim

Hot Snap came from last to first to win the Lanwades Stud Nell Gwyn Stakes at Newmarket for Sir Henry Cecil.

Cecil sent the once-raced maiden winner to the Classic trial, and his first runner of the new season on turf this year was sent off a 10-1 chance. A half-sister to Cecil’s great mare Midday, Hot Snap was last in the early stages but quickened up for Tom Queally to win by two and a quarter lengths. Cecil said: “She wants a mile and I expect her to come on for that. She could possibly be a Guineas filly. Otherwise she will be a nice one for Royal Ascot.”

Owner Khalid Abdullah’s racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe added: “I would think, if Henry’s happy, we will have to give the Guineas some proper consideration.”

Richard Fahey’s Garswood justified favouritism with a smooth success in the CSP
European Free Handicap.
