Horse Racing: Swinburn's four-year-old should be Marching Home at Kempton

Walter SWINBURN does not have many runners on the all-weather so the fact he is sending Marching Home to Kempton for the Watch Racing UK On Virgin Media 536 Classified Claiming Stakes is a tip in itself.

The lightly-raced four-year-old has far more potential than any of his rivals and the only surprise is that the former Derby-winning jockey has dropped him into this class so early in his career.

He runs in the colours of Swinburn's father-in-law Peter Harris and the family know his sire, Leporello, very well indeed. His last run was arguably his best, when chasing home Gallantry over a mile at Kempton last month. That was his first outing for 75 days so he should strip fitter for this. Another positive is the booking of Jamie Spencer.

Spencer could also be on the mark with David Simcock's Layla's Dancer in the Bet Multiples - Betdaq Claiming Stakes. Only five go to post but none can be completely ruled out, although Layla's Dancer is the youngest of the quintet and in good heart at present.

A third-place finish at Lingfield was followed up by a second at Kempton and the gelding, without a win since his debut at Thirsk in September 2009, should go well.

Ingleby Arch was a disappointing favourite on his last start on February 1 but he was entitled to be a bit rusty after a bit of a break. The conditions of the southwell-racecourse.co.uk Claiming Stakes certainly suit him and he should win here.
