Horse Racing: Patch set to catch up

Patch Patch ranks as the pick of a quiet Sunday's racing in the Sky Bet Supporting The Yorkshire Summer Racing Festival Handicap at Redcar.

Michael Dods' charge has not seen too much racing for a three year old so far and he still remains pretty unexposed as he lines up for his eighth start here. One win in three outings as a juvenile barely set the world alight and he did not look like amounting to much when beaten on his first two starts this year. However, a 2lb drop in the ratings and a trip to Ayr in May saw him reverse his fortunes, landing a cosy success in a race which has yielded a couple of winners since.

Patch Patch was then unfortunate to run into Perfect Blossom at Newcastle just under three weeks ago with that rival at the top of her powers at present.

She has subsequently bagged two more wins which gives the form plenty of weight and if Patch Patch can settle a bit better he should have excellent claims here.

Go Nani Go has had his problems in the past but the Yorkshire Radio Handicap can mark a return to the winner's enclosure for Bryan Smart's charge. He looked a useful tool as a juvenile but was limited to just one start at three before returning from a ten-month absence with a fair third at York. There was much to like about that effort as he just got caught out in the finish but granted normal progression, Go Nani Go can defy top weight here.
