Horse Racing: Big guns all set for trip to Musselburgh

It's all systems go for Musselburgh's big jumps meeting of the year on Sunday when an £80,000 programme has attracted the attentions of several big Southern stables.

It's John Smith's Cheltenham Trials day and top Berkshire trainer Nicky Henderson - who saddled two winners on this day last year - has ten entries on the seven race card, including Quantativeasing in the John Smith's Novice Chase.

The gelding, who was fifth in the Coral Cup at last year's Festival and opened his account over fences in impressive style at Fontwell recently, has several entries at the big Cheltenham showdown next month, while Moose Moran is prominent in the betting for the Triumph Hurdle, even though he has yet to run over timber. Successful on the flat last summer for Henry Cecil, the four-year-old is likely to line-up for the John Smith's Scottish Triumph Hurdle Trial on Sunday when David Pipe is another long distance raider.

The Somerset handler has several entries although there are no Irish entries.

"They will have fresh ground to race on," said racecourse boss Bill Farnsworth. "We have moved the rails out on the bottom bends and realigned the paddock bend."
