Home victory for Santos in Madeiro

Ricardo Santos became the first Portuguese-born player to win on home soil by capturing the Madeira Islands Open, carding a final-round 63 to win by four strokes on 22-under par. Swede Magnus Carlsson came second after a 67. Andreas Harto of Denmark was third.

Alastair Forsyth signed off with a 66 to finish tied for ninth on 273, two ahead of Gary Orr (69), with Chris Doak (68) also in the top 20 on 276. Lloyd Saltman matched Forsyth’s 66 for a share of 28th on 279, Jamie McLeary (70) was 39th on 281 and Andrew McArthur (70) and Raymond Russell (72) were joint 43rd on 282.
