Holt in frame for RBS award

THE man who has probably done more than anyone to make the clubgolf junior initiative a success in the Edinburgh area has made the shortlist for the RBS Junior Club and Volunteer Awards, writes MARTIN DEMPSTER.

Iain Holt was junior convenor at Turnhouse when it became the first local club to offer the programme in 2005 and has since mentored and guided other clubs in delivering it, including Ratho Park and Broomieknowe. Now he’s been nominated along with two other volunteer coaches as well as four golf clubs, one of them being Dundas Parks near South Queensferry, for the prestigious national awards.

“It is tremendous to make the shortlist for the RBS awards,” said Holt.
