Hockey: Young Scots hit back to square series

After a 3-3 draw and 3-1 defeat at the hands of Austria in Saturday's opening games in Vienna, the Scotland men's under-21 squad bounced back to give their hosts a 5-2 thumping in the final match yesterday to draw the series.

On the scoresheet for the Scots were Gareth Davies, John Harris, Josh Cairns (2) and Nicky Parkes.

The matches formed part of the build-up for the European Nations Trophy at the same venue at the end of next month and manager Graham Stuart said: "We played with more intensity and pace and could have scored more goals."
