Hockey: Wildcats wipe out Inverleith hopes of third

INVERLEITH'S chances of wresting third spot from Greaves Clydesdale in the Subway national league faltered when they fell 3-2 to Western Wildcats at Peffermill. John Martin and Chris Reid scored the Edinburgh outfit's goals, while Andrew Sewnauth, Charlie Reid and Dougie Simpson were the Wildcats marksmen.

Grange beat Menzieshill 6-1, Tom Blyth (2), Craig Harper, Nicki Lange, Yan and Wei Adams getting the goals.

In the relegation pool Edinburgh University finished in pole position with a 2-0 victory over Aberdeen Asset Management. The Granite City men are now consigned to the play-off with second division leaders CALA Edinburgh.
