Hockey: Under-18s line up for internationals

SCOTLAND'S Under-18 Boys and Girls take part in the Home Nations tournament at the Garryduff Sports Centre in Cork this weekend.

Clydesdale (Men) and Cala Edinburgh (Ladies) are the clubs with the best representation, providing six and five members respectively for each squad which speaks volumes for their youth coaching structures.

Both coaches - Kevin McNab (Boys) and Elaine Brierly (Girls) - will be keen to see their young charges do well but player development is also a key factor at this stage as they try to ensure that players are able to take the next step up.

The boys start today against Ireland and when these two countries meet it usually provides a tight encounter. A clash with England later in the day is a prospect to look forward to for the girls.
