Hockey: Stephen Dick and Niall Stott make GB squad

Former Inverleith stalwart Stephen Dick, now playing for Reading, and East Grinstead's Niall Stott are the only two Scots in the Great Britain squad for two official international matches against Argentina at Lilleshall on 17 and 18 November.

Dick, 25, was in the GB squad that finished fifth in the Beijing Olympics and is recalled by coach Jason Lee for the first time this year. The Scotland forward, who played in all the games at the recent Commonwealth Games in Delhi, moved from Inverleith to Reading at the start of this season to be closer to the GB hub, and this decision would appear to have paid off.

However, he will face intense competition for a place up front from his Reading team-mates Simon Mantell and Jonty Clarke as well as Surbiton's James Tindall and Matt Daly.

Stott, who played in the Athens Olympics and was travelling reserve for Beijing, is listed as a forward but performed well in defence during the recent four nations tournament against Germany, Japan and New Zealand in Nottingham.

There is no place in the squad for Scotland goalkeeper Alistair McGregor, with English keepers Nick Brothers and James Fair preferred.
