HOCKEY: Scotland thrashed Malaysia 5-0 in the third pool match of the World Cup Qualifier in Santiago to stay on course for a medal finish.

Ali Bell, Vikki Bunce, Emily Maguire (2) and Linda Clement were all on the scoresheet.

Scotland would be guaranteed the silver medal if they can see off hosts Chile in the final match, a place in the World Cup finals can only be a possibility in the unlikely event of Ireland beating Australia.

Elsewhere, Cala Edinburgh failed in their bid for first division status by losing 2-0 to Aberdeen Asset Management.
