Hockey: Scots bounce back with fine victory

THE Scotland Under-21 women's side bounced back from the disappointment of Thursday's defeat to record a two-goal success over Belgium at Peffermill yesterday.

Ali Howie led the way with a first-minute run but unfortunately Amy Brodie just failed to connect with the cutback.

Rhona Simpson's team took the lead just before the interval when a long ball into the circle from Kristine Ayling was neatly delected home by Howie.

Minutes from the end the Scots counter-attacked and won a corner. This produced a well-executed routine which saw Fleming's strike perfectly deflected past the stranded Belgian defence to secure the victory. "This was a much better performance and leaves us in good spirits for Lille next weekend," said Sheila Gray.
