Hockey: Scots bounce back to humiliate Wales

SCOTLAND'S U-21 women brushed aside the disappointment of their opening set-back against France to thrash Wales 5-0 in the second game of the Celtic Cup in Cookstown yesterday.

Coach Rhona Simpson made several changes to the starting line up as preparations for the forthcoming European Nations continue.

Fine interplay between Fiona Bruce, Iona Stephen and Emily Bain resulted in Daniele Johnston netting the opening goal. Soon after the second followed when a Bain shot was saved but Johnston was on hand to slot home the rebound. Johnston then completed her hat-trick shortly before the break.

The second half followed a similar pattern and after Ali Howie netted the fourth Johnston completed the rout.
